Our 1993 Saab 900 Turbo is gone

“Baby White” as we called her (just to differentiate between the car above and our 1994 Saab 900 SE Turbo) has found a new home.

The 94 is the second Saab pictured above just to show you that we had two, white Saab 900 Turbos (and why naming the cars sometimes helps differentiate). The 1994 was sold last fall to someone from our dealer, Valenti Saab in Watertown, CT.  The 1994 had nearly 220,000 miles on it when sold and is still going strong. To those who wonder if Saabs are reliable or affordable I cite this as one of the examples of our outstanding experiences owning 7 Saabs.

Our 1993 Saab 900 Turbo was also an incredibly reliable and very fun car to own. I am still sad to no longer own either of these cars, but we had to make practical financial decisions last year about how many Saabs we can own and maintain at the standards we want for our cars.

The 1993 is on its way to a new home in New York where I hope the new owner is able to give her the care and THOROUGH restoration she needs after 17 years of being a daily driver on salty New England roads.  After sitting since October, with nearly 175,000 miles, and just a battery charge, the 1993 Saab roared to life and purred like a perfect example of Saab reliability, making that distinctive “burble”  sound that only classic Saab 900 Turbos produce.

Thanks again to Swade formerly of SaabsUnited, now of Inside Saab for helping bring attention to our car back in January 2011, and ultimately to The Saab Network for allowing us to place a free classified ad and find a new owner for our cherished Saab.

A huge thank you as well to the gentleman who drove here from out of state to claim our old car and being willing to try to restore her or put her many good parts to use rather than crushing them for a huge tax break or a few hundred dollars worth of scrap.

We believe that these cars are too good to send to the waste bin when they need some attention… not when they have been so good to us for so many decades.

Thank you also to the folks in Trollhattan, Sweden who build the best darned cars for the money. Keep up the good work and long live Saab!

I may sound like a broken record but I will write it again… visit Saab.com to learn more about current Saab models, see special offers on new Saabs or to locate your nearest Saab dealer.

There has never been a better time to buy a new Saab.  Saab dealers and Saab are offering unbelievable savings on new Saabs and special financing as well to qualified buyers.

Remember… People who test drive a Saab usually buy a Saab.  Don’t take my word for it, drive a Saab yourself and discover why Saab enjoys some of the most loyal owners of any car brand in the world.
