The New Saab 9-5

The All New 2010 Saab 9-5

Although it has been several months since my last post, my passion for the Saab brand has not waned, nor have I been ignoring Saab, but my schedule prevented me from devoting attention to Saab.

Saab has been busy with its new owners getting things in order to bring the brand back to profitability and success, though the details of all of that work are beyond what I can cover here as an enthusiast. I think that Saab is doing an excellent job of working through the myriad steps required to resume production, develop new models, resume advertising and promotion, restructuring the company, dealer network, etc. Perhaps a daunting list of tasks, and yet I think they are doing a superb job for a company that was so near disappearing.

New models have arrived at dealers, and one of the most exciting things happening is the launch of the all new Saab 9-5.

The new Saab 9-5 is an impressive machine. While I did not think it possible, the new Saab 9-5 has me more excited about Saab’s future than I was, and I have been guardedly optimistic throughout Saab’s struggle to become an independent auto manufacturer.

I suggest watching a few videos that demonstrate some of the features, capabilities and incredible design aspects of this all new Saab.

The following videos are courtesy of the always informative and entertaining Steven Wade of Saabs United, who managed to travel to Sweden again, and provide incredible coverage of these amazing machines, while still managing a blog, career and family.

First Video in no particular order:

Saab 9-5 Infotainment System – awesome! I would put the system to good use.

Second video: The Saab 9-5 on the test track. Pure Saab. I am nearly jumping up and down with excitement to see Saab offering such an amazing handling car. I didn’t think it possible, but Saab has taken what I consider to be among the best handling, safe, practical and fun to drive cars and managed to improve them. Unbelievable. This one is Swade (Mr. Wade’s more personal video on the track).

Third video is the Saab 9-5 on the test track with a Saab employee at the wheel. Once again, awesome stuff. I am in love with the new 9-5, though I have yet to get up close and touch one… and more important, drive one!

And finally, Mr. Wade offers another nice video showing off some of the traffic recognition capabilities, HUD (heads up display), etc.

As slow as the process may seem to an impatient Saab enthusiast, I must mention how impressed I am with Saab’s accomplishments in such a short time in business as a newly independent firm. The future for Saab is bright and promising.

Saab has an excellent array of new vehicles, which is only going to become more impressive with a little time as new models, features, etc. emerge.

Go Saab!
